nTop, formerly known as nTopologyhas released nTop 5.47.3 is a computational design software platform that enables engineers to create, analyze, and optimize complex geometry using implicit modeling and field-driven design methodologies.

This release streamlines complex surfacing and lofting workflows with the introduction of Mirror Curve, Evaluate Curvature, and Frame along Curve.

nTop 5.47 - What's New
Mirror Curve
-    The Mirror Curve block creates a mirrored copy of an input curve across a specified plane. It generates only the new, mirrored geometry and does not retain the original input curve in its output.
-    This block is used for symmetrizing curves for lofting, extruding, or sweeping operations.
.        Location: Create > Curves
.        Curve: Curve to mirror.
.        Plane: Plane about which to mirror the curve.
.        Output: Curve

Evaluate Curvature
-    The Evaluate Curvature block calculates the curvature of a curve at a specified distance along its length. It returns a scalar value representing the curvature (k) at that point.
-    This block is used for identifying regions of rapid curvature change that may impact fluid flow
-    Location: Create > Curves
.        Curve: Curve to evaluate.
.        Distance: Distance along the curve.
.        Output: Curve
Frame along Curve
-    The Frame along Curve block creates a coordinate reference frame at a specific distance along a curve. The resulting frame orientation is defined by the curve's local geometry at that point.
-    Z-axis: Aligned with the curve tangent.
-    X-axis: Aligned with the curve normal.
-    Y-axis: Aligned with the curve binormal.
-    This block is used for creating local coordinate systems while lofting.
-    Location: Create > Curves
.        Curve: Curve to evaluate.
.        Distance: Distance along the curve to create the frame. If this value is outside of the range from zero to the length of the Curve, the point will be extrapolated. The extrapolation will be linear for Lines and Splines, and circular for Arcs. If Curve is a Polycurve, the extrapolation will be based on the type of the segment at the corresponding endpoint.
.        Output: Frame

nTop introduced the concept of implicit modeling for mechanical design, which is an innovative, modern, and scalable way define parts and products. It has many benefits to end-users and companies, such as the elimination of model failures, speed of changes or iterations, and scalability to name a few. But implicit modeling enables so much more. In this informational session, we'll explore a topic that is redefining product development - field-driven design. In short, field-driven design is a way for design, analysis, and manufacturing teams to overlay information into one engineering model. This approach enables orders of magnitude increase in design iteration speed and greatly improves collaboration between teams.

How Field-Driven Design Allows Engineers to Design for Additive Manufacturing

Watch this information session where we'll define field-driven design, show examples of how it enables better knowledge sharing, and show how it promotes the development of more sophisticated, highly engineered products. You'll also better understand how nTopology is addressing today's engineering problems through its nTop Platform product.
nTop, formerly known as nTopology, is a leading computational design software company founded in 2015.  The company specializes in empowering engineers across industries to innovate without the limitations of traditional CAD tools. Built on proprietary technologies, nTop enables the creation of complex geometries, instantaneous optimization, and automated workflows, making it ideal for applications such as additive manufacturing and advanced product development.
