The Blue Gators band is based in Montrose, Colorado, nestled in a valley along the western slope of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. After working on previous independent projects this group of talented musicians have been collaborating for over two years. Their live shows attract fans of all ages. This first album promises to be the first of many successful albums to come.
Joe Scherben leads the band and is the main songwriter on this album. Joe is a talented guitar player and has a smooth voice for the lead vocals. Originally from Pittsfield Massachusetts Joe had exposure to a variety of top artists over the years and you can hear these different influences and nuances come through in his writing.
Gordon Allen lends his smooth sax playing to the band. Gordon is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana and his sax playing has that New Orleans swing to it. Gordon picks up the Bass on four songs on this album and lends a steady rhythmic addition to songs like "Amazing Blue."
Erik Valdez hails from Los Angeles, California and has a background in Hip Hop and is a successful DJ. During live shows Erik has a special connection with the audience. His deep voice and background percussion bring that edgy LA feel to the Blue Gators. His musical influences are diverse and include many of the Blues greats and you can hear that come through in his smooth tone.
Kalena Scherben is homegrown Coloradan and plays Bass on songs like "In Front of Me" and "No Sense Trying." She has a great feel for those funk and Latin rhythms that make these songs so danceable. Kalena is a strong rythym guitar player on songs like "Day Away" and "Picture This" and is at home on the acoustic or the electric guitar. Her backup vocals bring that extra brightness to the mix.
Johnny Ray is a Montrose, Colorado native. He has been playing drums since he was a boy having been originally instructed by his father and playing with bands in Colorado and Arizona. Johnny handles the complex rhythms on this album with ease and adapts to a variety of musical styles.
