Foundations, Configuration, Security, and Verification - with Integrated Lab
What you'll learn
⚡ How the DUAL algorithm achieves loop-free, fast convergence and how the composite metric (K-values) works
⚡ How to configure, enable, and verify an EIGRPv6 process - including router ID, AS numbers, and per-interface activation
⚡ How to apply advanced sub-commands: manual summarization, unequal-cost load balancing (variance), timers, passive interfaces, and bandwidth control
⚡ How to secure EIGRPv6 with MD5/SHA authentication, troubleshoot adjacencies, and compare EIGRPv6 against RIPng and OSPFv3 for exam positioning
Requirements
❗ Completion of the RIPng course and basic IPv6 addressing knowledge (prerequisite)
❗ Access to Packet Tracer, GNS3, with IPv6 unicast routing support
❗ 5-7 hours available for the modules, plus 2-3 hours for the Integrated Lab
Description
This self-paced course delivers a complete, hands-on of EIGRP for IPv6 (EIGRPv6), Cisco's advanced distance-vector routing protocol and a core topic in the CCNA 200-301 exam's IP Connectivity domain. Building on prior RIPng and protocol-comparison coursework, learners progress through seven structured modules covering EIGRPv6 fundamentals, the DUAL convergence algorithm, composite metrics and neighbor relationships, base and advanced configuration (summarization, load balancing, timers, passive interfaces), MD5/SHA authentication security, verification and troubleshooting, and a final exam-focused comparison against RIPng and OSPFv3.
Each module includes a Self-Check to reinforce understanding before advancing, and the course culminates in an Integrated Lab: a four-router topology exercising every concept taught across the modules. Estimated completion time is 5-7 hours for the modules plus 2-3 hours for the lab. A prerequisite understanding of RIPng and basic IPv6 addressing is recommended, and learners will need access to Packet Tracer, GNS3, or physical IOS devices with IPv6 unicast routing enabled.
By course completion, students will be able to independently configure, secure, verify, and troubleshoot an EIGRPv6 deployment, and confidently articulate its distinctions from RIPng and OSPFv3 - a frequently tested exam concept.
A frequently tested exam concept - equipping learners with practical, exam-ready EIGRPv6 expertise for real-world network deployment.
