Requirements
There are no formal requirements to take this course. You do not need any background in psychology or related fields. All you need is an open mind, a willingness to reflect on your experiences, and an interest in applying what you learn to your daily life and work. Basic English understanding is enough to get started.
Description
In this course, you are introduced to the science of Positive Psychology, including the three pillars, psychological strengths, and psychological capital (HERO: Hope, Efficacy, Resilience, Optimism). Several practical frameworks are explored, including the VIA and CliftonStrengths tools, Seligman's PERMA model (positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment), and logotherapy, along with techniques for goal setting and experiencing flow. Throughout the course, you will engage in reflections and activities to apply these concepts to daily life and work. In module 1, we will explore the three main pillars of Positive Psychology: positive experiences, individual strengths, and supportive social systems. By the end of the module, you will be able to see how these ideas connect, and you will begin to apply them to your own life through simple activities and reflections. In module 2 we will look at two well-known tools for identifying strengths: Gallup's Clifton Strengths Finder and the VIA Classification of Strengths. You will also explore the six core virtues that group these strengths, and the difference between your "signature strengths" and those that are less central to you. Finally, you will practice how to make the most of your strengths in daily life and how to use them in a balanced way. In module three, you will learn about psychological capital, which is all about the positive mindset and strengths that help you succeed and thrive. We will look at the HERO model, which has four parts: Hope, Efficacy, Resilience, and Optimism. You will learn what each part means, why it matters, and how it can help you handle challenges and reach your goals. In module four, you will learn about the PERMA model. We will focus on positive emotions and explore how they affect us in different ways. You will learn about the broadening effect, the building effect and the undoing effect. Finally, we will consider why positive emotions matter and how they can support you in daily life. In module five, we will focus on the engagement and relationship pillar of PERMA model. You will also learn about an important concept of flow and how it affects our day to day life. In module six , we will focus on the meaning and accomplishment pillar of PERMA model. You will also learn about an important concept of logotherapy and practical ways of setting and accomplishing goals. This course will teach you how to apply the science of Positive Psychology practically for enhancing your personal and professional life.
