In this class, you will learn all the basics of light, shadows, reflection, and everything you need to know to make your artwork realistic and believable. Included you find a FREE EBOOK containing all the information you might need later on in the process.

Creating an artwork by applying the basic lighting it's the key to successfully achieve a good result! No matter if you're drawing, painting or creating in digital, the same principles apply.

In the first part, I'll guide you through some basic definitions, including light, value and value grouping. I'll also explain the 3 steps of a method I call "Observe, Shape, Value", which we can use to draw or paint anything from scratch.

In the second part, I'll show you some applications, including pencil on paper, painting with Gouache, and drawing on Procreate (iPad Pro).
