CHICAGO -- Ubaldo Jimenez is doing his part to keep the Cleveland Indians in the playoff hunt. Jimenez pitched 8 1-3 strong innings and Asdrubal Cabrera and Lonnie Chisenhall homered to lead Cleveland to an 8-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night that helped the Indians keep pace in the AL wild-card race. Jimenez (12-9) scattered eight hits and struck out eight to win his third straight start, falling just two outs shy of his ninth career complete game and fourth shutout. The last time he did both was on June 1, 2011 with Colorado. "I was looking for my first shutout in the American League," Jimenez said. "I was able to establish my fastball down. Even when they got runners on base, I was able to get everything down for ground balls." The right-hander walked only one before being relieved by Chen-Chang Lee with one out and two on in the ninth. Chicago scored its lone run in the final inning on Josh Phegleys sac fly -- the first earned run charged to Jimenez in his last three outings. Jimenez is 4-2 in his last six starts, and through 40 innings he has allowed eight runs and struck out 50. And thats been a big boost for the Indians, especially with ace Justin Masterson on the disabled list. "Whether you have Masterson sidelined or not, when (Jimenez) takes the ball right now, hes legit kind of top-of-the-league stuff," Indians manager Terry Francona said. "You look at his numbers since a couple months now, its pretty damn good." Cabrera hit a two-run homer and Chisenhall added a three-run shot in a five-run fourth inning that powered the Indians to their 11th straight win against Chicago and third in a row overall to improve to 80-68. Texas, at 81-66, holds one wild-card spot and Tampa Bay at 80-66 has the other. "Everything counts right now," Jimenez said. "You never know what game is going to make the difference." Clevelands Carlos Santana went 3 for 4 and drove in two runs with a single in the sixth. Chicago starter Andre Rienzo (2-2) lasted just four innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks. Rienzo was called up on July 30 and has allowed five or more runs in three of his last four starts. The White Sox, last in the AL Central, have lost five straight and 14 of 16. They managed to get more than one man on base only twice against Jimenez, in the third and ninth. "I saw the stats flash a couple of nights ago where they are .500 against the league and then like (14-2) against us now," said Phegley, who went 3 for 3. "Weve single-handedly put them in the playoff race basically." Rienzo pitched out of a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the first by striking out Michael Brantley and getting Cabrera to ground out. The Indians batted around and took a 5-0 lead in the fourth. With one out and Santana on first, Cabrera lofted his 13th homer to right to make it 2-0. After Jason Giambi walked and Yan Gomes singled, Chisenhall launched his 10th. Rienzo was relieved by Charlie Leesman after walking Carlos Santana to open the fifth. Santana made it 7-0 by driving in Chisenhall and Michael Bourne off Leesman in the sixth. Ryan Raburn drove in a run with a sac fly in the ninth off Addison Reed. NOTES: Rienzo and Gomes are the only two Brazilians in the majors. Rienzo is the first Brazilian pitcher in MLB. ... RHP Masterson, who leads the team with 14 wins, did not throw Saturday after playing long-toss on two previous days. Hes expected to throw again Sunday. ... Francona is sticking to the "one game at time" approach when asked about the Indians chances of grabbing a playoff spot. "Logic says this probably going to go down near the wire," he said. "I think we just need to worry about winning tonight." ... White Sox 1B/DH Adam Dunn, who is 3 for his last 34, was held out of the lineup on Saturday and manager Robin Ventura said 1B/DH Paul Konerko would rest on Sunday. ... Cleveland RHP Zach McAllister (7-9) is scheduled to face White Sox LHP and ace Chris Sale (11-12) in Sundays finale. Jon McGlocklin Jersey . -- Isaiah Pead took a stutter step forward, then raced to the left sideline and travelled 60 yards up the field before finally getting tripped up by a leg tackle. Jack Sikma Jersey . "I had a pretty good year," the soft-spoken Granberg told TSN.ca with a grin from the teams annual rookie tournament in London. A fourth-round selection in 2010, Granberg is worth keeping an eye on with NHL training camps rolling around in less than a week. The six-foot-two, 200-pound defender may not possess the wow-inspiring theatrics of fellow prospect Morgan Rielly, but nonetheless has a chance to contribute with the Leafs when all is said and done this season. https://www.cheapbucksonline.com/756t-bobby-simmons-jersey-bucks.html . Louis Blues brought in the premier unrestricted free agent centre, and did it without breaking the bank. Yi Jianlian Jersey . Some members of the U.S. Congress arent so sure. They say Russia isnt doing enough to assure that athletes will be protected at the Feb. 7-23 games, happening not far from an Islamic insurgency that Russias huge security apparatus has struggled for two decades to quell. Russia may run greater risks in towns outside the tightly controlled Olympic zone. Suicide bombs last month a few hundred kilometres (miles) away have increased concerns, and an Islamic warlord has urged his followers to attack the Sochi Olympics, Russian President Vladimir Putins pet project.Andy Halliday insists there will be no hard feelings if Hibernian players refuse to form a guard of honour for Scottish Championship winners Rangers on Wednesday night. Ibrox supporters believe Alan Stubbs team should pay tribute by applauding their side on to the Easter Road pitch but that might be a bitter pill to swallow for the Edinburgh side, especially with their promotion hopes now hanging in the balance.Stubbs has refused to confirm or deny whether his players will welcome Rangers out of the tunnel, but midfielder Halliday says there will be no row if the hosts reject the request. Rangers manager Mark Warburton (left) with Andy Halliday He said: Thats up to Hibs. I would like to think [they would] as obviously its been part and parcel of football for a long time. But its up to them. There will certainly be no hard feelings if they dont. Its completely up to them. Manager Mark Warburton admits he would be touched by such a move but also said there would be no issue if it does not materialise. If its a gesture made by a club then were appreciative of it, he said. If its not then theres no issue. Well see what happens. It happens sometimes, other times it doesnt. So we will wait until Wednesday but it wont be high on the agenda from our perspective. Hibs boss Alan Stubbs and Rangers manager Mark Warburton Would we do it if roles were reversed? If that was the case we could discuss it, but it didnt happen.Wednesdays clash will act as a dress rehearsal for next months Scottish Cup final after both sides booked their place with dramatic penalty shoot-out victories in the last four.Hibs overcame Dundee United but will place just as much importance on their midweek encounter with the Gers as they look to breathe fresh life into their play-off hopes. Hibernian Head Coach Alan Stubbs wants his side to forget about their Scottish Cup final with Rangers and focus on beating them in the Championship After beating Celltic, Rangers are aiming for their first major cup triumph since 2011 and a return to Europe four years on from their financial troubles.dddddddddddd Halliday is more concerned about maintaining momentum but does not think the midweek result will have an impact come cup final day. Were going to go for the cup and Europe but weve got a very tough game in Hibs, he said. They got to the League Cup final and now theyre in the Scottish Cup final as well as challenging for promotion. Rangers players celebrate their penalty shoot-out win over Celtic I think they are a side that has not had enough credit for the way they have done this season. But I dont think (Wednesdays game will have any extra impact ahead of the cup final). Anything can happen in a cup game. Hibs are a good team, were a good team and there is so much at stake so it will really be the team which turns up on cup final day that wins the game and the cup, so I dont think that will have any bearing on how Wednesday will pan out.The cup winners will enter next seasons Europa League at the second qualifying round on July 14 but Warburton is not worried that fighting on two fronts would tire his team out as they try to re-adjust to life in the top flight. Rangers manager Mark Warburton thinks their Scottish Cup win against Celtic proves how good they are I think you have to accept European football and say thank you very much, he said. If you have the chance to go for European football, to test your squad, to develop the players, to excite the fans, I cant believe you would turn that down. What we have to do is prepare as well as possible for it.It will be a new experience for many but people like Davie Weir and Kenny Miller have been through it, so we have experience in the squad and the players we bring in we hope will have experience as well.Watch Hibernian v Rangers on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports 2, from 7.30pm.  Also See: Sky Live: Hibs v Rangers Rangers beat rivals Celtic King in tears after Gers win Stubbs: Points our priority ' ' '
