Tekla Structural Designer 2019i SP1 version 19.1.1.42 | 315.2 mb
The Tekla product team is pleased to announce the availability of Structural Designer 2019i SP1. The release includes a number of enhancements and issue resolutions.

Tekla Structural Designer 2019i Service Pack 1 - Release notes:

Issues with Associated Bulletins

[TSD-4688]1 - Foundation Design - Pile Caps - Eurocode - for the shear check and the reduced design shear load near to supports per EN 1992-1-1 Cl. 6.2.2(6), the lower limit of  av = 0.5d for checks undertaken at  av

Enhancements & Fixes

        - A number of additional fixes which are not detailed explicitly here are also made to improve general performance and stability.
- [TSD-1491] - Show/Alter State - Fixed/Pinned - Cantilever ends can now be easily applied graphically via the Review View > Show/Alter State > Fixed/Pinned command as shown in the picture below.  A new "Cantilever end" attribute is added to the options for the Fixed/Pinned command with the same Mode options as the existing Fixed/Pinned attribute.  When this is activated, a Cantilever end can be set by simply clicking on the appropriate end of a member.

- [TSD-5142] - Tekla Support Tool - fixed an issue where the Tekla Support Tool (run via the File > Contact Support option) incorrectly checked the signed-in customer account for a Tekla Structures maintenance license in order to submit a Support case.

[TSD-4829] - Tekla Portal Frame Designer (TPFD) - fixed an issue where some decomposed wind loads were duplicated on Portal Frames exported to TPFD.  Note that the issue occurred only for the less common circumstance of  Portal Frame columns divided into one or more stacks with wind walls set to decompose to nodes.  The issue would generally be clearly apparent in producing much larger lateral deflections in TPFD when compared to those in Structural Designer.

        - [TSD-4848]* - Cores - Envelope Results - the method of calculating Core enveloped results is corrected and now selects the core maximum and minimum values from all pre-calculated core combination results in an envelope rather than summing individual member/panel enveloped values.

        General

Steel Design - Beams - Natural Frequency check:
[TSD-5189] - Construction Stage - following customer feedback,  the Natural Frequency check is no longer performed for the Construction Stage combination for both non-composite and composite beams, as it is not required for this combination/condition.  This issue relates only to the first release of 2019i (version 19.1.0.86) in which it was introduced.
[TSD-5173] - Web Openings - the check can now be applied to non-composite beams with web openings.
- [TSD-5095]1 - Concrete Design - Slabs and Mats - Punching Checks - Grillage Chase-down results are now considered by Punching Checks, making them consistent with slab and mat panel and patch design.
Note that the Grillage Chase-down results are only applicable to and available for slab design for those which are meshed in the 3D Analysis.  This is always the case for Mat Foundation panels, but less common for slab panels which would generally only be meshed in the 3D Analysis in the case of transfer slabs.  For more on this subject see the TUA article When should I use the "Mesh 2-way Slabs in 3D analysis" option? .

Head Code US

     Steel Design - Beams:
[TSD-4546] - Seismic Design - for the seismic design check 'Seismic Stability Bracing', the maximum unrestrained length check now considers continuous LTB restraint to flanges.   Where both top and bottom flanges of a beam/ sub-beam are continuously restrained, the message "Fully restrained against LTB - Not Required" is now issued in Design Details.  Where one flange is continuously restrained, intermediate restraints to the opposite flange within the unrestrained length are now also considered when determining the design length for the check.
[TSD-4108] - Shear Check - Major  - fixed an issue where the summary table correctly identified the Pass/Fail status for the Shear major check, but when expanded to expose the detailed calculations, the status incorrectly showed a Pass.
- [TSD-4429]1 - Concrete Design - Beams - fixed an issue which prevented design of cantilever beams where a seismic check was being attempted when not required or valid, most commonly when no Seismic cases or combinations existed.
     Foundation Design - Pile Caps:
[TSD-1523] - Foundation Design - Pile Caps - the design process is enhanced to include the special investigation for punching shear at the face of the column described in the CRSI Design Handbook.  This additional check is performed when there is a valid critical perimeter but some or all of the piles are located between this and the loaded perimeter.
[TSD-4675] - Pile Edge Distance - the pile edge distance check has been updated according to the requirements of the latest 2015 version of the CRSI Design Guides.  Piles having an allowable load greater than 280 Tons are now required to have a minimum distance of 36" between the edge of the pile cap and the pile support point (centroid).

Tekla Structural Designer delivers powerful features for optimizing concrete and steel design, including the ability to quickly                                                                                                                                                                                                compare alternative design schemes, efficiently manage changes and collaborate seamlessly. Regardless of project size or complexity, Tekla Structural Designer's fully automated, productivity-enhancing capabilities enable engineering firms to improve operations, successfully bid more projects and enhance client service.

Tekla Structural Designer 2019 introduces updates around flexibility and interoperability.
