Master distance, velocity, acceleration, Newton's laws and motion graphs for OxfordAQA IGCSE Physics 9203

What you'll learn
Explain the difference between distance and displacement and between speed and velocity using correct examples
Calculate acceleration using the equation a = change in velocity divided by time with full worked examples
Read and interpret distance-time graphs including gradient calculations to find speed at any point
Read and interpret velocity-time graphs including gradient for acceleration and area under graph for distance
Apply Newton's First, Second and Third Laws of Motion to solve problems involving forces and motion
Calculate resultant forces for objects with parallel forces acting in the same and opposite directions
Use scale drawings to find the resultant of two forces acting at an angle to each other
Identify balanced and unbalanced forces and predict how each affects the motion of an object
Determine whether forces acting on an object are balanced or unbalanced and explain the effect on the object's motion using Newton's First and Second Laws
Requirements
It is helpful but not required to have completed P1 Forces and Interactions before starting this course. No prior knowledge of motion graphs or Newton's laws is needed as every concept is built from the beginning. A basic calculator is needed for the acceleration and velocity calculations covered in this topic.
Description
This course covers P2 Forces and Motion from the OxfordAQA IGCSE Physics specification 9203 in full. Every lecture is built directly around the specification so there is nothing missing and nothing unnecessary.
P2 is one of the most important and heavily tested topics in the entire IGCSE Physics course. Distance-time graphs, velocity-time graphs, and Newton's laws appear on almost every past paper. Students who master this topic early have a significant advantage across the rest of the course.
In this course you will learn the difference between distance and displacement, speed and velocity, and understand exactly why direction matters. You will calculate acceleration using the equation a = change in velocity divided by time, and learn how to read and interpret both distance-time graphs and velocity-time graphs with confidence.
You will explore Newton's First, Second and Third Laws of Motion and understand how balanced and unbalanced forces affect the way objects move. The course explains how to calculate resultant forces for parallel forces and how to use scale drawings to find resultant forces acting at an angle.
The course also covers balanced and unbalanced forces in detail. You will learn why a resultant force of zero means an object stays still or moves at constant velocity, and why any non-zero resultant force causes acceleration. This links directly to Newton's First and Second Laws and is one of the most commonly tested areas in P2 exam questions.
Every lecture includes worked exam-style examples and exam technique tips so you know exactly what the examiner is looking for. A downloadable interactive practice quiz is included with each lecture so you can test yourself immediately after watching.
This course is taught by Muneeb Farooq aka SUPERMUNEEEB, an IGCSE Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics specialist with 8 years of teaching experience across the UK, UAE, Bahrain and Pakistan.
Who this course is for
Students studying OxfordAQA IGCSE Physics specification 9203 who need structured revision for the P2 Forces and Motion topic
IGCSE students who struggle with motion graphs and want clear step-by-step explanations of distance-time and velocity-time graphs
Parents supporting their child through IGCSE Physics who want a reliable resource covering Newton's laws and motion calculations
