What Will You Learn?Combination feeding remains a common infant feeding method for many parents although the WHO recommends exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months.Whether combination feeding is a medical necessity or choice, this online course aims to help you protect and maintain your breast milk supply during combination feeding and make combination feeding work for you and your personal circumstances. Although, feeding bottles are the main tools used for combination feeding in the Western World, this course also acknowledges the use of alternative feeding methods such as cup feeding, spoon feeding or supplemental nursing system but the in depth explanation of the use of these tools goes beyond the scope of this course.This course does by no means promote combination or formula feeding. As an IBCLC, I follow the WHO International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes and in line with the WHO recommendation promote exclusive breastfeeding for healthy infants for the first 6 months. However, I believe in informed choice and supporting all parents regardless of their infant feeding choices, so that they can maximise the amount of breast milk for their babies and combination or formula feed safely if they chose to do so.
