Welcome! Today we will be learning about the Collison of Empires. How did indigenous people in the Americas thrive before Columbus? This includes the Mayan, Aztec and Incan Civilizations. How did these civilizations have advancements and technologies to help them thrive? How did European colonization impact their lives? We will learn a wide range of vocabulary from the Berling Strait, Tenochtitlan, Montezuma, chinampas, Hernan Cortés, Andes Mountains, Pachacuti, terrace farming, Pizarro, Mestizo and Bartolomé de las Casas. Students will be brought back in time to learn about the way of life of these groups. Enjoy! :)Current AP US History Teacher. I have taught middle school in the past and right now at a high school setting. I also have a Master's Degree. Highly effective, top achieving teacher at my school. Lessons are engaging and helps students learn more with strong visuals. Material is divided into sections for better understanding. Check for understanding slides included for monitor and reinforce learning. Colorized images are implemented to connect the content to the information. Key vocabulary is highlighted in red to stand out and each slide has bullet points to help break down the learning process. This is how I currently teach my students and they often tell me how they appreciate my resources to help them learn.
