This introductory course will lead you to understand the use and the structure for IP addressing for devices on a network. This course will focus on IPv4 with an emphasis on the inner workings of network and host identification with the use of subnetwork masks.
In this course, default subnetwork masks will be used to class -full addresses (Class A, B and C). You will learn how to identify range for denoting the addresses within their classes, and you will be able to calculate and identify the network address, the valid host range and the broadcast address given an IP address.
You will be completing a small class project by identifying the valid address for a class B network. This course will also serve a stepping stone for the sub-networking course where non-default masks will be used.
Download Cisco Packet Tracer in order to complete the simulations for your class project. This course will step you through the use of the simulator in a simple yet effective manner.
