What's NewCreo 12.4.5.0 > Detailed Drawings > New User commands for Updating Symbol PathsCreo Parametric 12.4.5.0 introduces three user commands for managing symbol paths when symbol libraries are relocated. These commands help administrators identify outdated references and update existing symbol instances so they can use the current symbol directory.
dump_symbol_defs_details outputs symbol definition information to a file named symbol_defs_details.txt in the run directory. The file contains the model name, symbol ID, symbol name, and symbol path and is intended for information purposes without modifying the model or drawing database.
update_symbol_path updates symbol instances to use the corresponding relative path from the current symbol directory. Creo Parametric searches the symbol directory for a matching definition and applies the first valid match. The command assumes that symbol definitions have unique names within the symbol library.
clean_symbol_paths_under_abs_path removes absolute path prefixes from symbol definitions referencing a specified directory and converts them to relative paths. The command assumes that the root symbol directory has changed while its internal folder structure remains unchanged. The input is the previous symbol directory path, such as D:\SymbolsOldDir\.
These commands help maintain existing symbol references after a symbol library has been moved, allowing updated definitions to be refreshed when their source symbols change.
Creo 12.4.5.0 > Data Exchange > Base 3D PDF ExportCreo Parametric 12.4.5.0 adds a 3D PDF export option for sharing model information with users who have access to a PDF viewer. The exported document can contain the model, combination states, and part- or assembly-level PMI.
During export, Creo associates the model with the appropriate part or assembly 3D PDF template. The templates provide an interactive 3D view where users can rotate, pan, and zoom the model, together with PMI associated with the selected combination state. Available render styles include Illustrated, Solid, Transparent, and Solid Outline.
The exported document can also provide a parts list with cross-highlighting in the 3D view, thumbnails for navigating combination states, and model information such as the author name, file name, and date. Approver or reviewer names and signature areas can be edited and saved by the 3D PDF consumer, while notes can also be modified and saved downstream. The template can additionally be customized with a company logo.
This enhancement provides a way to distribute 3D model and model-based definition information to downstream users who may only have access to a standard PDF viewer.
