PVsyst S.A.is pleased to announce the availability ofPVsyst 8.01.0is the solar industry's preferred software simulation tool for bankability analyses and acceptance testing.

With the latest version of PVsyst (PVsyst 8) in the market, the software now offers additional features including:
1. Ageing, Optimization, and Batch Processing
Explore our suite of advanced tools providing detailed results for advanced design decisions. Combine multi-year batch simulation for serialised simulations, including row spacing and bifacial height adjustments, and photovoltaic module ageing.
2. Pumping Systems
With the latest version of PVsyst, pumping systems can be modeled with sun-tracking, hydraulic properties, storage, and water demand using selectable components for accurate performance evaluation.
3. New Orientations
New orientations allow unlimited customization, enabling combinations of trackers and fixed planes, all in one simulation.

PVsyst 8.1.0 - Date: April 15, 2026
PVsyst version 8.1 contains new major features:
-    New assistant to import Weather Data
-    Sub-hourly Simulation for Grid-Connected and Standalone systems (*)
-    Weather data, Meteonorm: updated to Meteonorm DLL V9, replacing V8.2.
Other new features
-    Grid limitation: power threshold can now be defined from a CSV file containing a time series
-    Horizon: Meteonorm horizon import now uses the new V9 local DLL, removing the need for an internet connection
-    Thermal model: PV module temperature is now computed using a transient thermal model for both hourly and sub-hourly simulations (*)
-    Transposition model: sub-hourly horizontal diffuse irradiance data with the Perez model now uses coefficients adapted to each time step. These adapted coefficients aim at reducing the discrepancies between sub-hourly and hourly simulations (*)
-    Weather data, custom file: new model to estimate diffuse horizontal irradiance from global horizontal irradiance. Dedicated coefficients for sub-hourly simulation are used in order to reduce the discrepancies with hourly simulations (*).
Improvements:
- Optimizers, Huawei: new optimizers in the database
- Soiling: soiling fraction can now be defined from a CSV file containing a time series
- Standalone simulation: various battery management improvements
- Storage, power shifting: charge and discharge values can now be defined from a CSV file containing a time series-
- Weather data, custom file: new weather data validation step added
- Weather data, NASA: updated to NASA POWER API, replacing NASA-SSE.
Corrections:
- 3D scene: ground image is now stored in the user images folder to avoid issues when importing projects
- Bifacial: bifacial geometry is now properly defined even when pitch is irregular, instead of using default parameters for certain pitch RMSD values. Backside irradiance results may change for corresponding cases
- Clear sky model: the value of the solar constant has been updated from 1367 W/m² to 1361 W/m² to reflect more recent measurements. This has a slight effect on all sizing steps based on the clear sky model
- Grid limitation: fixed allocation of power limitation among MPPTs in case of mixed orientation sub-arrays
- Grid limitation: minor correction to the application of grid limitation at inverter level with AC losses
- Optimizers: current clipping at optimizer level is now better handled
- Thermal model: PV module temperature was saved as 0 at night conditions (GlobInc < 10W/m2), but is now properly stored
- Weather data: Linke turbidity and relative humidity are now included in the clipboard paste and import operations in the monthly weather data table
- Weather data, custom file: accuracy of Hay reverse transposition has been improved
- Weather data, known format import: fixed issue for date interpretation for PVGIS data at certain sites and retrieving site names from coordinates no longer causes crashes
- Weather data, known format import: importing single file data from NREL / NSRDB no longer causes crashes
- Weather data, Solargis: fixed issue that prevented importing certain files with non-integer time zones
- Weather data, Solargis: updated API key validity check.

PVsystis a software package for the study, sizing and data analysis of complete PV systems. It deals with grid-connected, stand-alone, pumping and DC-grid (public transportation) PV systems, and includes extensive weather data and PV systems components databases, as well as general solar energy tools. This software is geared to the needs of architects, engineers, researchers. It is also very helpful for educational training.  PVsyst focuses on complete and precise PV system study with a complete set of tools.
PVsyst 8 _ My First Project (Grid Connected System)
The industry's relatively long history withPVsystis one of the primary reasons that the solar project investment community has largely standardized around PVsyst energy models. In 1992, André Mermoud, a PhD physicist from the University of Geneva, began developing Windows-based PV simulation software. Mermoud rewrote PVsyst in its entirety in 1999, enabling graphical interface capabilities. For more than 20 years, the developers behind PVsyst have supported U.S.-based project sites and provided periodic software and database updates.
