However, there are also third-party GUI-based applications designed to offer a more user-friendly alternative to the command prompt. Such a tool is EnScanPort, a simple yet handy port scanner that enables you to find the ports in a network that are opened for communication.
A portable port availability checker
There is no need to install EnScanPort, which is one of its pluses. The one-window interface might seem outdated and rather dull, since the focus of the development team was clearly functionality, while the application's looks came in second.
The main window bundles all the available options and tools, allowing you to easily initiate a new port analysis or scan. With EnScanPort, it is possible to scan a single port by entering the corresponding IP address or domain name and the port number. Once the "Scan" button is pressed, the port is analyzed, and its status is displayed in the "Results" panel.
Scan port lists and ranges as well
It is also possible to scan an entire port list with EnScanPort to find open ports on network computers. The steps are practically the same, requiring you to enter the IP address or domain name, alongside a comma-delimited list of port numbers. Unfortunately, the application does not allow you to import a list of ports from a file, which could have been more practical and faster.
Not only that you can analyze individual ports and lists of ports, but EnScanPort also allows you to scan entire port ranges. You simply must enter the start and end port numbers and hit the "Scan" button to start the analysis.
A lightweight port scanner for Windows
EnScanPort allows scanning single ports, as well as lists or ranges of ports to check their availability. Its advantage is that it provides a network port scanner inside a lightweight package, so you don't have to call to a complex network management tool.
