The software developer Ekahau announced the launch version 9.2 of Ekahau Site Survey. This release introduced several new features as well as improvements and bug fixes.

Version 9.2.6 - Release Date: February 20th, 2019

Improvements:
- A critical Java update included in this version! What's so critical about this then? Hold on to your seats or ease the tension by reading to the first item on the "Fixed issues" section.
- Mist access points names are now displayed in ESS.
- Cisco Prime export has been updated to include all the latest Cisco access points.
- Added separate filter for "Exclusion areas" in View-menu.
- Alignment points are no longer removed from a floor if it's removed from a building. ESS only wants to help you, but sometimes it's a bit too eager for its own good!
- Selecting BLE tool now properly toggles the "Bluetooth" filter automatically ON from View-menu
Fixed issues:
- Fixed a critical crash issue related to switching between applications on macOS 10.14 (Mojave). Hence the aforementioned Java update!
- Projects can no longer be saved with broken surveys without route points. The existential question here is that is a survey a survey without a route? Our answer is a definite "No".
- Access point antenna orientation arrows scaling fixed on reporting. No more comically large or small arrows - only safe, visible and slightly boring moderate sized ones.
- About-dialog no longer shows incorrect license information if an adapter, which ESS license has been attached to, is disconnected.

System Requirements and Software Limitations

The following hardware and operating system are required to run the program:
- Windows 10, 8.1, 8, or Windows 7 (64-bit) / MacOS 10.11 (El Capitan) or newer
- Minimum requirement of 8GB RAM, but 16GB+ RAM recommended
- 1GB free hard disk space
- Ekahau Sidekick (recommended), Ekahau NIC-300-USB adapter, SA-1 Survey adapter or another similar supported Wi-Fi adapter (visit

- Laptop computer (required for recording surveys, a desktop computer is sufficient planning and analysis)
- Screen resolution of 1366 x 768 or higher

Note:Ekahau Sidekick is the only supported external scanning device for macOS.

The following is required for simultaneous passive and active site surveys:
- Ekahau Sidekick (recommended) or supported external Wi-Fi adapter for the traditional passive surveys - Collect RSSI information as well as other network data
- Integrated Wi-Fi adapter for network testing - Test the network end-to-end connectivity (Ping), packet loss rate or analyse the network throughput (iPerf)
- Network connection via the Integrated Wi-Fi adapter using Windows Wi-Fi management tool (Disable the third party Wi-Fi connectivity tool if enabled!)
The following is required for Spectrum Analysis surveys
- Either external or internal Wi-Fi adapter for passive surveys
- Ekahau Sidekick (recommended), Ekahau Spectrum Analyzer or equivalent for collecting RF spectrum data

Ekahau Sidekick will allow you to do dual-band spectrum analysis, but otherwise you will need to have two Ekahau Spectrum Analyzers (or equivalent devices).

Please consider the following limitations that apply to the program:
- The software may become unstable if a single Project file contains more                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              than 10 000 access point MAC addresses
- The software supports map images with 10000 x 5000 pixels and smaller
- The software may become unstable if more than 100 hours of survey data is recorded into a single project

In case you are using multiple adapters for Wi-Fi and spectrum analysis surveys, please make sure that your computer is able to provide enough power to the devices via the USB port(s). If the computer is not able to provide enough power to the devices, the Ekahau Pro may not be able to collect any data from them.

Ekahau Sidekick has an internal battery and requires only one USB-port and therefore doesn't draw its power from the computer.
