Altair Embed 2020.0 Build 99 | 1.4 Gb
Altair announces most significant software update release in company history. Altair Embed 2021 - supports three additional target and two additional target families from ST Micro, VRTOS code modifications for MISRA compliance, and OpenCV DNN (Deep Neural Network) module integration.
All of Altair's software products have been updated with advancements in user experience and countless new features, including intuitive workflows that empower users to streamline product development, allowing customers to get to market faster.
The software update release expands on the number of solutions available for designers, engineers, data analysts, IT and HPC professionals, facility managers, and more to drive better decisions and accelerate the pace of innovation. It broadens the scope of the new user experience, enables access to more physics, data analytics, and machine learning, and makes the Altair software delivery method more flexible and accessible.
These Release Notes cover four products: Altair Embed, Altair Embed Basic, Altair Embed SE, and Altair Embed Viewer. They include new features and enhancements, known issues, and resolved simulation and code generation issues.
HighlightsAltair Embed code generation has been upgraded to attain a large degree of MISRA compliance. Header files have been reworked for compliance; the generated code now emits C99 types (int8_t,int16_t,int32_t,int64_t, etc); and bitwise logical operations now use unsigned types.
Altair Embed Viewer has been re-introduced to the Embed product family. The Viewer is a free, read-only version of Embed for sharing block diagrams with clients and colleagues not licensed to use Embed. The Viewer lets you open and simulate Embed blocks diagrams, as well as download and run embedded target executables.
Altair Embed Basic now offers all the features and capabilities of Embed; however, it limits the size of your block diagrams to no more than 100 blocks. The block count is displayed in the status bar that runs across the bottom of the Embed Basic window.
New IOT Tutorial has been added to the library of Embed tutorials. This tutorial describes how to enable WiFi on an Arduino to create an Edge Device, connect the device to the internet, and publish real-time data to the Altair SmartWorks IoT platform using Embed and SmartWorks.
General Features and Enhancements Example diagrams Provides additional diagrams to showcase new features in Embed.
Find in Diagrams Finds blocks and text strings in multiple diagrams.
lineDraw block Uses variables to set line thickness.
Menu control Allows you to add all or part of a custom menu tree to the menu bar.
OpenVision blocks Expands OpenVision blocks set to include DNN blocks for image classification and object detection. These blocks recognize the following model types: Caffe, Darknet, DLDT, ONNX, TensorFlow, and Torch.
Replace in Diagrams Allows you to search for and replace all instances of a specific block or text string in multiple diagrams.
Code Generation Features and Enhancements These features and enhancements apply only to Altair Embed and Altair Embed Basic; they do not apply to Altair Embed SE.
AMD64 target support Expands target support to include Linux AMD64 processors.
Arduino ESP8266 WiFi support Enables WiFi on an Arduino to create an Edge Device that can be connected to the internet to publish real-time data to the SmartWorks IoT platform.
Raspberry Pi target support Expands Raspberry Pi target support to include 4B processors.
STMicroelectronics target support Expands STM32 target support to include G4x and L4x microcontrollers.
STMicroelectronics peripheral support Expands STM32 peripheral support to include ADC interrupts, DAC, and I2C.
Texas Instruments peripheral support Expands functionality of F28004x and F2837x GPIO Output blocks to allow GPIO output to be taken directly from OUTPUTXBAR, which you can configure to comparator and GPIO inputs.
Altair Embed software is a proven tool for developing embedded systems, by automatically generating code from block diagram models and transferring to popular controller hardware. Once you have a working simulation based on a system diagram, automatically generate the associated code for your hardware controller. You can also readily test your design using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL).
Other products in Altair's Model-Based Development offering include Altair Activate and Altair Compose.
This example explains how to use the Altair Embed application to control a PMSM motor in an open loop fashion. This example will focus on the PWM and ADC blocks. For the target we'll be using the Texas Instruments F28069M launchpad board target, also known as the Piccolo, Teknic M 2310P Low voltage servo motor, and a Texas Instruments DRV 8301 inverter board. Altair is a global technology company that provides software and cloud solutions in the areas of product development, high performance computing (HPC) and data analytics. Altair enables organizations across broad industry segments to compete more effectively in a connected world while creating a more sustainable future.
