When Janis Joplin hit the stage at Woodstock in August 1969, she was just one of a handful or artists who [played both that festival and Monterrey Pop 2 years earlier. Others in that select group were Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Canned Heat, Ravi Shankar, Paul Butterfield, The Grateful Dead, Country Joe and The Jefferson Airplane.

This soundboard recording captures Janis 2 weeks after Woodstock, on August 30, 1969, 5 decades ago today.  She joined a host of other artists who went from playing in Bethel, NY to taking the stage in Lewiston TX.
