Banks, MFO, IAMS do not deal with non-financial assets, so they are ill-equipped to report on them. Neither do they provide entity-level reporting (IFRS or GAAP accounts). Family officers need to understand this blind spot.We will deep dive into examples within each category to understand their significance in enhancing overall asset management strategies (Lectures 17):a. Properties hold value beyond their monetary worth, serving as tangible assets with potential for appreciation and income generation. This includes Primary Residences, Commercial Real Estate, Land and Development Projects. In this sub-Lecture, we will describe in more details the management of existing properties and projects , which the family office may be responsible for.b. Art investments combine aesthetic & collectible value for some family members, or the family foundation with financial potential, requiring specialized expertise for valuation and growth.
