Gain the foundational knowledge of Chef Software in order to pass the Chef Basic Fluency certification exam

The Chef platform is a multifaceted approach to administering the complexities of infrastructure management. Chef utilizes the concept of "infrastructure as code" to allow us to express our infrastructure policy as object-oriented code that is versionable, testable, and repeatable.

The tools provided by the Chef platform are being rapidly adopted by large-scale enterprises who wish to increase the speed of deployment for software, increase efficiency in the organization, and lower risk for large-scale deployments.

This course is designed to give you a crash course in the fundamentals of Chef, with an emphasis on providing the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the Chef Basic Fluency certification exam. The skillsets represented by this certification are highly desired among many enterprises and are applicable to those in the roles of system administration, DevOps, and software development.

In this course, you'll learn:

The conceptual basis and theory of configuration management.
A high-level overview of the Chef ecosystem.
The syntax associated with the Chef domain-specific language.
Usage of common Chef command line tools.
Knowledge of basic Chef terminology.
The basis of Chef's design philosophy.
How to manage the infrastructure policy of machines via a Chef server.
The offerings and products that Chef provides.
An overview of Automate, Chef's premium product.

This course will be hands-on, and while students are not expected to have any familiarity with Chef, they are expected to have basic knowledge of utilizing the command line as well as the elementary principles of programming.
