Description
I will teach you how to do usability testing. But I will not only tell you about it, but I will actually show it to you.

As a matter of fact, I will show you a real usability test of one of the world's best-designed apps, Google Calendar. I will show you how I find 12 usability issues in just about 20 minutes. That is one usability issue every second minute of the test.

Get started with Usability Testing, understand how your users think, and build an amazing user experience. Build a real feedback loop into your design process.

A personal story for people wanting to get into UX Research:

I came to UXR from Academia. I had been a great researcher psychologist, so I assumed that will translate well into UX Research. To make sure, I read a ton of books on UX and usability testing. Then I applied for a job, got a usability testing task, and failed that spectacularly. Looking back, it was obvious from the way I conducted the test that I have never ever seen a real industry usability test before. My focus, my approach was totally off. No book prepared me for that. This is a craft. You gotta see how others do it. After I have seen real tests of real products, I quickly got the hinge of it and I have been a UX Researcher ever since. So this is why this course is centered around actual footage of a real-life usability test.

What's included?

a 5-minute recipe for Usability Testing

5 issue detection techniques

12 unpacking techniques

90-minute footage of two real usability tests and explanations

DIY usability test kit: prewritten test guide, so you can test Google Calendar with a friend in under 30 minutes.

Sample usability report

Course handout with the key points

Usability testing (aka user testing) is the most important qualitative user research method. In this course, I am going to cover the essentials of it. The 20% that gives you 80% of the results: Tasks, Detecting issues, and Unpacking issues. Once you master these 3, you will be able to find ways to improve (or surpass) even the world's best-designed apps.

How do I know what the essentials are? I have been conducting usability tests for a decade now. I have been doing them in real business and industry settings and saw what made a difference and what didn't. This course is the very essence of what I have learned and distilled during the years. If you only have 60 minutes to learn about Usability Testing, I recommend you learn this.

Who this course is for:
Designers and PMs who want to expand their toolbox with Usability                                                                                                                                                                                                        Testing.
Talents who want to start a career in UX Research.
